April ‘Corona’ 2020

Greetings from the New Forest!

We hope that you had a happy and healthy Easter? Although, perhaps not had been originally planned. This is a a strange and frightening time for us all, and whereas we know that we can’t welcome you to the hotel at the moment, we look forward to the days we can open our doors to you once more and share in your celebrations and get-aways!

We are closed we think (although we will be taking government advice) until 1st June 2020. We have unfortunately had to cancel or postpone all visits and events until this time. We are still here though and so if you have a stay or event with us later in the year and are concerned about anything please do get in touch – e mail is probably the best at the moment (reception@woodlands-lodge.co.uk) or leave a message on our answer phone. We are offering everyone the opportunity to postpone any event or stay, as we above all want our guests to feel safe when they visit us and excited to visit us and not worried or anxious.

Our thoughts are with all our bride and grooms who have had to postpone their weddings, and we appreciate their great spirit during such a disappointing time. We promise we will give you a day to remember when your big day comes.

To any couples worried please get in touch, i have been in touch with all couples until the end of August- and once i have a clearer idea i will be in touch with our September and beyond brides, but please do not worry alone – we can always chat plan B now. I am here to help.

What, are we doing with ourselves during this time? well…. We have been glossing like crazy beasts! We have now glossed the reception, restaurant, bar and breakfast room and on our way down the corridor to the toilet!

We have also taken this opportunity to go outside and start some of our outdoors projects, and whereas it is a little challenging as we can only purchase necessities, Rob has painted all the dormer windows and repainted all our fascia boards in the back garden – he has a just a little more to go and then i will post a photo – but it’s looking fabulous.

We have also taken a sledge hammer to a rather rickety wall going to the 2nd paddock and hopefully we can now open this space up to join the main garden in being a tranquil garden of relaxation. I am using We in the royal sense- i tell you Rob will be as fit as a fiddle by the end of this!

It has not been all plain DIY sailing, as some strong winds a few weeks ago brought down one of our big trees- thankfully missing all main structures and no one was injured. The only casualty a few fence panels. Our neighbours were fabulous at 2m apart from us helping chain saw the branches out of the road and shore up the fences – thank you! Again, fortunately we were able to get an emergency tree surgeon to sort out the rest of it… quite messy but the resulting wood chips look delightful on the front on the hotel drive way – my contribution to the DIY’ing. Oh, boy did i ache after that- the area is bigger than it looks!!!

We will continue to paint, garden and get on top of our to do list – always massive, so when it is safe to do so we can re open our (freshly painted) doors to you all and give you the best New Forest holiday. I think after this we will all need a get away.

We wish to thank everyone for all their support they have given us, and also to all the key workers keeping us safe at this challenging time.

We wish all our best wishes to you and your families from us at Woodlands and we can’t wait to see you and hear your quarantine stories soon.

Best wishes and stay safe,

Imogene Anglaret

COVID-19 UPDATE

COVID – 19 UPDATE

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began we have been taking the advice of the government and World Health Organisation to ensure the wellbeing of our guests and staff.

Following the most recent advice we have taken the difficult decision to close the hotel during this crisis (full closure from 4.30pm on 22nd March 2020). Please be sure that, as soon as it’s safe to do so we will be up and running again with another tale to tell.

We will be contactable via e mail during this closure, so if you have an upcoming event or booking you can easily contact us. All affected or potentially affected bookings have already been contacted.

We will also continue to take reservations after 1st June 2020.

From the bottom of our hearts we wish to thank everyone for the support and love you have given us during this difficult time, it really means so much to Robert, myself and the whole team and we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel as soon as it is safe to do so.

We wish you all our very best wishes to you and your families during this challenging time and stay safe!

Take Care

Coronavirus (COVID- 19)- Update

Due to the recent advice from the Government they have upgraded their recommendations for corona virus to avoid social contact and avoid restaurants, pubs and theatres. We are therefore updating our advice regarding your up coming stay to the hotel. The situation is moving rapidly and we will update you as best we can.

We are open for business, but have to limit our restaurant & bar service- to enable a social isolation. We therefore have to cancel our Mother’s Day lunch event and Afternoon tea- we are very sorry to do this, but the health and safety of our guests and staff is most important to us. We do not know how long this social isolating will be for and we wish to get back to welcoming you to our amazing restaurant as soon as possible.

We are keenly following the Government and  World Health Organisation information and advice.

  • Enable social isolation, to assist this we will cancel all external events and lunches until the 31st March and we will extend this and advise you if this is necessary. All events will be rescheduled to the best of our ability.
  • We are actively taking measures to reduce the spread of infection- posters, additional hand washing, extra hand sanitising units in public areas and our kitchens
  • Staff have been made aware of the government guidelines and will follow self isolation policy if they feel unwell.
  • We are also being vigilant of the health of our guests
  • We are following a rigorous deep clean of public areas – door handles, reception, banisters etc on a daily basis.
  • We are following government and WHO advice.
  • We have an emergency plan that will be implemented if necessary

We can continue trading  at the moment but t we will continue to update you as best as we know any changes.

Any stay or event booked over such a period where a cancellation is necessary/ enforced will be rescheduled. Also, any guest that has to cancel because they are diagnosed with the corona virus will be able to reschedule their stay during these emergency times.*

We are a small business, and it is our overriding desire to keep our staff and guests happy, healthy and in a safe environment, and any closures are a final/last resort.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are worried or concerned, but we remain open as best as the government and public health allows, and we are taking all steps we can to mitigate the spread of this virus.

Thank you and best wishes

April 2019

Greetings from the New Forest

Happy Easter everyone, we hope you are your loved ones had a fantastic Easter bank holiday. We had a great weekend at the hotel. We had lots of lovely guests staying with us, as well as two days of Easter Afternoon teas, Easter Egg hunt, and bouncy castle and craft fun. With the fabulous weather it was great to see so many people enjoying the lovely garden. It would, however be fair to say we also encountered some trials and tribulations on the Saturday, with a 5 hour power cut, which meant we had to improvise and call on some very kind people – thank you Quality Marquees – who lent us a generator and also to the kitchen who set up a garden kitchen/ BBQ so that we could continue with the Easter lunches and also our Easter afternoon teas- I have to say as always the Woodlands team pulled it out of the hat!!

The last few months have seen us start back up into wedding season, and this has been lovely to be a part of our couples special day- and the hotel has looked lovely whether it has been  a wedding afternoon tea or a  three course wedding breakfast. It is always amazing to see the finished result and all the bridal party endeavours come together on the wedding day, utterly beautiful.

We are about to undertake some garden maintenance and painting in the next month as well, lets hope the good weather continues, so we can get cracking on these projects and have everything ship shape for summer.

The New Forest has sprung into life over the last few weeks, and the impossible seems possible with the flowers starting to bloom- not long now until the Rhododendrons and azaleas start to come up. This is the perfect time to come to the New Forest, and as well take a trip to Exbury Gardens which we also can offer guests of the hotel a 20% discount too!! We have some fabulous dinner bed and breakfast offers and look forward to welcoming you to the hotel soon.

Take care and best wishes

Greetings from the New Forest – January 2019

Happy New Year and we wish you all a healthy 2019.

We had a wonderful Christmas at Woodlands, the Christmas trees looked lovely and the food tasted delicious. So, a big well done to all our staff who made the whole festive season possible, and a thank you to all the guests that came to enjoy a festive lunch, festive afternoon tea, party night, Christmas get away and New Year’s Gala dinner.

We didn’t stop there we also hosted a beautiful wedding and even had the bishop as a guest. It was lovely that the bride and groom combined Christmas decorations as their wedding theme- even giving each gift as a bauble as a favour. The flowers were also beautiful and complemented -the winter season and the Christmas decorations. We look forward to seeing the pictures.

We also held a super dog friendly 30th birthday. So hard when your birthday is next to Christmas, but Mindy’s birthday was a blast I’m sure that no one realised Christmas was only 2 weeks from then. It was great that we were able to create a relaxing weekend that could be enjoyed by humans and canines alike!!! We look forward to seeing you all soon.

We have been enjoying dare I say a dry spell over the last few weeks too. This has dried the forest up a treat and made that early morning dog walk a lot more pleasant. The Forest is great in all months, and we have got some sensational winter offers to attract you to the Woodlands Lodge!

Now we are in January, we can crack on with our maintenance plans and have several little projects to work on during these next few quieter months so we are in ship shape by Spring!

We hope to see you all soon, and once again Happy New Year.

Take care

Best wishes

Greetings from the New Forest June 2018

Greetings from the New Forest

We have had a beautiful month of gorgeous weddings. We have been lucky enough to host five fabulous days, and the weather was kind to us almost all the time – apart from one sensational monsoon rain storm!!!!!!!!!!! We wish all our bride and grooms the very best wishes for their future. It has also been lovely to welcome back some of guests for their first anniversary, which is very special to us.

We are living the high life this week, or so to speak!!! Rob s on a cherry picker painting the outside of the hotel, it’s not quite finished, although he’s doing a great job.

We are looking forward to the summer season, really winter felt that it would never end, and despite some downpours the forest is starting to dry up – it’s about time. We have enjoyed some great walks lately and cycle rides.

We also got a few new treats for our four legged friends and some comfy dog beds for the bar, so everyone in the family can enjoy their holiday.

The new restaurant menu is up and running and our new head chef Darren is settling in nicely. For those who have not yet visited or not recently. We have amended our dinner offering, to all day dining and broadened our offerings too, so hopefully there is a little something for everyone- or especially if you are with us for more than a few days 🙂

We are excited to also be hosting a delicious Father’s Day lunch and look forward to celebrating with all the lovely Dad’s out there.

Well that’s about all the news from us, we look forward to welcoming you very soon, and don’t forget to complement Robert on his painting.

Best wishes
