Greetings from the New Forest!
We hope that you had a happy and healthy Easter? Although, perhaps not had been originally planned. This is a a strange and frightening time for us all, and whereas we know that we can’t welcome you to the hotel at the moment, we look forward to the days we can open our doors to you once more and share in your celebrations and get-aways!
We are closed we think (although we will be taking government advice) until 1st June 2020. We have unfortunately had to cancel or postpone all visits and events until this time. We are still here though and so if you have a stay or event with us later in the year and are concerned about anything please do get in touch – e mail is probably the best at the moment (email@example.com) or leave a message on our answer phone. We are offering everyone the opportunity to postpone any event or stay, as we above all want our guests to feel safe when they visit us and excited to visit us and not worried or anxious.
Our thoughts are with all our bride and grooms who have had to postpone their weddings, and we appreciate their great spirit during such a disappointing time. We promise we will give you a day to remember when your big day comes.
To any couples worried please get in touch, i have been in touch with all couples until the end of August- and once i have a clearer idea i will be in touch with our September and beyond brides, but please do not worry alone – we can always chat plan B now. I am here to help.
What, are we doing with ourselves during this time? well…. We have been glossing like crazy beasts! We have now glossed the reception, restaurant, bar and breakfast room and on our way down the corridor to the toilet!
We have also taken this opportunity to go outside and start some of our outdoors projects, and whereas it is a little challenging as we can only purchase necessities, Rob has painted all the dormer windows and repainted all our fascia boards in the back garden – he has a just a little more to go and then i will post a photo – but it’s looking fabulous.
We have also taken a sledge hammer to a rather rickety wall going to the 2nd paddock and hopefully we can now open this space up to join the main garden in being a tranquil garden of relaxation. I am using We in the royal sense- i tell you Rob will be as fit as a fiddle by the end of this!
It has not been all plain DIY sailing, as some strong winds a few weeks ago brought down one of our big trees- thankfully missing all main structures and no one was injured. The only casualty a few fence panels. Our neighbours were fabulous at 2m apart from us helping chain saw the branches out of the road and shore up the fences – thank you! Again, fortunately we were able to get an emergency tree surgeon to sort out the rest of it… quite messy but the resulting wood chips look delightful on the front on the hotel drive way – my contribution to the DIY’ing. Oh, boy did i ache after that- the area is bigger than it looks!!!
We will continue to paint, garden and get on top of our to do list – always massive, so when it is safe to do so we can re open our (freshly painted) doors to you all and give you the best New Forest holiday. I think after this we will all need a get away.
We wish to thank everyone for all their support they have given us, and also to all the key workers keeping us safe at this challenging time.
We wish all our best wishes to you and your families from us at Woodlands and we can’t wait to see you and hear your quarantine stories soon.
Best wishes and stay safe,
